At an Australian wildlife refuge, the largest crocodile in the world passed away.

Cassius, the crocodile, weighed close to 1,000 kilos and was eighteen feet in length. Although its actual age remained unknown, it was thought to be around 110 years old.

Since his capture in northern Australia in 1984, Cassius has been residing at a refuge on the coast of Queensland.

The Guinness World Records acknowledged Cassius as the world’s largest captive crocodile in 2011.

According to a statement on Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat’s Facebook page, Cassius will be terribly missed and will always be a part of their hearts, love, and memories.
